Winter afternoons are short, so we plan those months in finer detail to give you every bit of daylight. Twilight sessions are scheduled dynamically. Our booking system sets each start time from that day’s sunset, typically 30 minutes before, and shows you a single time slot, so there’s no guesswork. Best time for your home
The direction your home faces decides when natural light flatters it most. Use this as a starting point when you book, and we’ll help with the rest.
East-facing
Around 9:00 am
The morning sun rises in the east, giving the home soft, warm light and a welcoming feel.
South-facing
Around 10:00 am
South-facing homes get sun all day. Late morning keeps it soft and diffused, without harsh shadows.
North-facing
Morning or afternoon
Light is naturally diffused, so mornings around 9:00 am or the afternoon hours below keep it soft and even.
Winter tip: Afternoon light ends early from November through January, so book early.
West-facing
Afternoons
The afternoon sun lights up the front of the home with warm, golden light. When afternoon starts depends on the season; see below.

Common questions
How do I choose the best time for my home?
It depends on the direction your home faces: mornings for east, late morning for south, and afternoons for west, with north working well either way. See best time for your home for details.
What does “wrap by” mean?
It’s the time our photographer finishes on site. Your latest available start time depends on the length of your package.
Why do the hours change so much?
Colorado’s daylight changes a lot through the year, and interior light fades well before the sun actually sets. Adjusting by season keeps every shoot in good light.
Why are twilights a separate shoot and not an add-on?
A twilight is its own shoot. It happens in a short window right before sunset, separate from our daytime shoots, and a photographer is scheduled specifically for that moment. Since it needs its own dedicated time in that special evening light, it’s booked as a standalone session rather than added onto a daytime shoot.
